SNAPCHAT FILTER - DINO DIG

I worked on a personal project for my client, Snapchat. I explored the amazing new functionality of Lens Studio and created an engaging experience worthy of being shared by tweens, teens, and young adults.

My idea was to create a game called Dino Dig. The premise of this idea was what if there was an interactive game that could entertain and educate people about different species of dinosaurs?

PROCESS

STYLE FRAMES

1ST PASS

I tracked the brush to follow the individual's hand and also tracked the dino skull to follow the individual's head.

2ND PASS

I redesigned the dino skull into a three dimensional model. However, it appeared unrecognizable, the text was unreadable, and the mouth was not able to open yet.

3RD PASS

I remodeled the dino skull to become recognizable and to have it appear as a helmet, the dino head will be at the top of the person's head, and the jaw will be at the bottom of the person's head. I resized the text and designed the dirt and the paleontology brush as three dimensional models to keep the design cohesive.

FINAL

I faced some challenges such as combining the beginning and ending of the game together, and also having a hand activating the brush to wipe the sand to reveal the dino skull with no knowledge of coding or scripting of interactive games.

I resolved these challenges by having the dino skull attached to the individuals head with the mouth being able to open and close with the open mouth trigger, and also having an animated video of text stating "DIG FOR THE FOSSIL," then the brush wipes the sand, creating a dust cloud covering the screen, another text appeares stating "YOU HAVE FOUND...," resulting in a text of facts about that particular dinosaur.
