DINO ZOOM
I worked on a personal project for my client, Zoom. My superior just said something off the cuff stating "Someone should make some cool zoom backgrounds that are actually fun to look at."
My idea was to design a dinosaur based zoom virtual background animation with a sleeping Iguanodon in a prehistoric jungle.
PROCESS
STYLE 1
STYLE 2
Style 1 was designed as a looping virtual background animation utilizing geometric and organic shapes with stroked lines. Style 2 would be utilizing organic shapes and grainy textures. Style 1 was chosen.
1ST PASS
I scaled down the Iguanodon and animated the animal sleeping, the stars twinkling, the plants moving, the fireflies hovering, and a comet dashing in the sky.
2ND PASS
I adjusted the timing of the loop, transitioned the background from night to day, fixed the floating appearance of the Iguanodon, added a baby Iguanodon popping up at random places, and other additions to this looping animation.
3RD PASS
I revised the palm leaves moving with the wind, gave the baby Iguanodon more personality, added a sun rising in the sky, a Pteranodon flying, and animated the grass swaying and the fireflies hovering.

FINAL
I reduced the stretch of the baby Iguanodon, fixed the grasses on the left side of the screen, animated the 4 trees swaying, and added fireflies on the other side of the scenery.
It was a joy to design and animate this prehistoric world.
